Plastic Free July in New Braunfels, Texas

Shortly after returning home from living in Germany, I was served an ad for a campaign called Plastic Free July. I took the short quiz and signed myself up to go plastic-free for the month of July (or, at least as much as I could!).

The organization is based out of Australia but runs worldwide each July to challenge us to reduce the number of single-use plastics we use in the day-to-day.

This year I am hoping to share the Plastic Free Challenge with people and businesses to bring more awareness around reducing plastic waste in New Braunfels.

Reduce Plastic Waste in New Braunfels

Going plastic free can seem a little bit daunting at first. Especially when you look around and see how much plastic is around us everywhere we go.

Here are a few ways you can reduce plastic waste.

  • refuse plastic straws

  • bring your own coffee mug for your daily coffee shop run

  • keep reusable bags in your car for quick trips into the store

  • quit curbside grocery shopping for one month and see how many plastic bags you save!

  • refuse toys in kid’s meals
